Student Travel Grant
Applications for Travel Grant are solicited from US-based students (students that are in a US university) to attend IEEE WoWMoM 2007 to be held in Helsinki, Finland on June 18-21, 2007. These travel grant awards are supported by the National Science Foundation (pending final approval), IEEE TCCC, and IBM. A total of 15 awards are expected. Applications should be submitted via EDAS: http://edas.info/listAllTravelgrants.php.
A goal of the travel grant program is to encourage participation in the IEEE WoWMoM 2007 conference by students that would normally find it difficult to attend. Other criteria will include evidence of research in wireless, mobile, multimedia networking, and/or a serious interest in wireless mobile networking as demonstrated by coursework and/or project experience. Student authors, women and minorities will be given preference when other qualifications are similar.
Only US-based students are eligible to apply for these travel grants. An application, to be submitted via EDAS, will consist of the student's vita, a letter from the student, and a letter from the student's advisor.
The letter from the student should include:
- A brief summary of research interests and accomplishments to date;
- A description of areas reflected in the IEEE WoWMoM 2007 program that would impact the student's research;
- Why the conference attendance is important to the student.
In addition, the student's advisor should send a letter of recommendation to the committee, that includes:
- Confirmation that the student is a Ph.D. candidate in good standing;
- The suitability of the WoWMoM program material to the student's research area;
- Ways this particular student would benefit from attendance at the conference;
- The strengths and potential contributions of the student; and
- Availability of funds from other sources.
The submission deadline is May 8, 2007, and notifications will be made by May 11, 2007.
