30.8. The course is held during second period of fall 2007.
The course T-111.4300 introduces graphic devices and basic concepts of graphics programming. The course teaches for example about drawing functions in 2D and 3D, geometric modelling, use of colours and image rendering algorithms. The basics of programming computer graphics are tried out in practice in the guided exercises.
The course length is 3 cr and it is held during the second period of fall 2007. For deeper understanding of the subjects covered during the course, students may continue with the advanced course "T-111.5300 Advanced course in computer graphics".
The prequisity for the course is to know the basics of programming.
The requirements for passing the course are:
Your course grade is calculated from the exam result.
The course text book is Hearn & Baker: Computer Graphics with OpenGL (third edition). Many of the subjects covered during the course can be found also from the previous editions of the book. There is also a collection of links to some extra material.
The course "T-111.4300" substitutes the old course "T-111.301 Introduction to Computer graphics".
Courses "T-111.4300" and "T-111.5300" substitute together the course "T-111.300 Computer Graphics".
Accepted partial works during the course (the exercises and the exam) are valid until the end of year 2007.
Enrollment for the course is done using the Webtopi course system.
The course lectures are held starting 5th November on Mondays from 12 to 14 and on Wednesdays from 10 to 12 in the lecture hall T1. The contents of the lectures can be found on the Lecture timetable -page, which will contain also the lecture slides. Note, that the lectures are held in Finnish!
For passing the course you have to take part to the guided exercises. Attending the exercise sessions is compulsory.
The exercises are held during weeks 47 and 48 in two 3h sessions.

The course exam will be held 17th of December 2007 from 12am to 3pm in the lecture halls L, N and K. Use the Webtopi course system to register to the exam.
