Validities of course parts
Data Communications Software moved to the Department of Computer Science and Engineering in TKK's internal structure re-organization in 1.1.2008. These old pages under TML are no longer updated. You can get to the new pages here.
This announcement applies to the following courses of TML:
(if the responsible future staff continue applying this custom).
- T-110.1100 Introduction to Datacommunications and Multimedia Technology
- T-110.2100 Introduction to Datacommunications
- T-110.2105 Introduction till datakommunikation
- T-110.4100 Computer Networks
- T-110.4200 Tietoturvallisuustekniika
- T-110.4206 Information Security Technology
The course parts are:
- doing required amount of homeworks for passing (and programming assignment in computer networks course)
- final exam or two midterm exams.
If the student participates to the midterm exams, they must be done in same year than the homeworks. Both midterm exams must be done in same year.
Homeworks and programming assignments must be done in same year, because the subjects of the assignments depend on each other (in computer networks course).
The course parts are valid according to the following table two years. The raising of course grade is valid one year from the beginning of the course. Note, in the exam season given in parenthesis may not be an exam for the course!
Course parts done Last exam spring 2006 before the courses start in spring 2008 (january exam season 2008) autumn 2006 before the courses start in autumn 2008 (september exam season 2008) spring 2007 before the courses start in spring 2009 (january exam season 2009) autumn 2007 before the courses start in autumn 2009 (september exam season 2009) spring 2008 before the courses start in spring 2010 (january exam season 2010) Why?
The two year validity of course parts was decided because
- the homeworks and exams of courses require much work.
- after two years the information of the homeworks or exams will not be up to date anymore.
- the different courses exams may overlap and complicate the passing of this course. We of course try to prevent overlapping, but this way everyone should have enough time to pass the exam.
- subjects of homeworks, programming assignment and midterm exams are designed to cover whole course area together.
