Course in Fall 2004This course will be lectured in English in fall 2004. The course code is T-110.301 for the English language version of the course and the contents are the same as in the course T-110.300. Lectures in English
Contents of the courseThe basics of modern telecommunication systems will be discussed during the course: The most important standards, layered architectures, protocols and their general properties, the structure and function of telephone networks, common telecommunication networks and their services, mobile networks.PrerequisitesThe prerequisites for this course is T-110.250 Fundamentals of network media, T-110.249 Introduktion till modern telekommunikation or S-38.105 Principles in Communication Engineering. Reception hoursLecturer's reception hours are on Fridays, 10-11 in room A109.
The course IRC channel is #tlark on IRCNet. The staff is
present on the channel during the reception hours
(Thursdays 14-15), but you can most likely reach someone
from the staff at other times too.
In order to pass the course you have to pass the exam or mid-term
exams, and home assignments. The grade is based on the
exam (or mid-term exams) grade and a possible raise from
the assignments.
The course has six obligatory home assignments. You need
25% of each assignment's maximum points AND 50% of all
assignment points to pass the course.
By earning 80% of all points you get a +1 raise to course
grade. A failed examination (grade 0) can not be raised
to grade 1.
Exams and completed assignments passed on autumn 2002 or
later are valid on this course. However, exams or home
assignments passed this autumn won't be valid later,
since this is the last time the course is held in its
present form.
