Course information
Providing services and content in a mobile evironment presents
several challenges of varying type. This course focuses on the
technical framework required and the various solutions to the diverse
problems, especially on the applications and middleware levels.
Requirements and participation
Prerequisites for this
course are the course T-110.300 Telecommunications
architectures and a seminar, for example T-110.501
Network Security or T-110.551 Internetworking. This
course is targeted for post-graduate students and advanced under-graduate
students. Priority is given to post-graduate students and students who are
planning for post-graduate studies in Telecommunications Software and
Multimedia.
Course structure
The course consists of presentations prepared by the participating students
covering the course book. Active participation during lectures and
their planning is required.
Passing the course
- Attend the lectures and return a lecture diary for each lecture
documenting your learning
- Give a presentation, there is a guide to help you design it.
- If you are absent more than once, for each class you are away
from, write a summary of the chapter, Maximum length for each summary
is two pages (this means that you have to understand the contents of
the chapter to be able to condense it).
Deadline for summaries is
Monday May 2:nd.
Return the summaries to the assistant by e-mail
(kiravuo@tml.hut.fi) in some usual format (text, PDF, Word Doc).

Language
The language for the presentations and discussion is English.

- Student number
- Are you regular student, in the master's program or postgraduate
student (you already have a master's)
- Amount of credits you have
- Which previous seminar have you participated (e.g. Netsec, Iwork)
- Is this course mandatory for you (Telecommunications Management 2003-4)
- Which topics would you like to
lecture, select a few and give preference
- What experience or other skills you have (I try to match the best
experience with the topic)
- Are you willing to work with a parner, sharing a topic
I will select the students for this course based on the information
above and I try to fit everybody in, if there is overcrowding the
preference is:

- Post-graduate
- Close to graduation
- Rest
